Birthdays & Anniversaries

We have many birthdays and anniversaries this month . Click this link to see who is celebrating! Perhaps say a prayer for someone on their birthday or anniversary or send a card to let them know they are loved.

Ladies’ Night Out is Thursday, May 4th at Waterfrontoo at 5 pm. Contact the church office to add your name to the list. This takes place on the first Thursday of every month, so if you cannot make it in May then put it on your calendar for June.

We will have communion during our 9am and 10:30am services on Sunday May 7th. Thanks to every person who helps prepare and serve communion so faithfully. If you would like to help, just let us know.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14th! Let’s take some time and reflect on our mothers and other special women in our lives.
Call your mom or the special women in your life, and let them know they are loved and appreciated.
Here are some questions to help you ponder:
- Which of her qualities do you most admire and try to model?
- How has she formed you to be who you are today?
- What is your fondest memory of her?
- If you could tell her anything now, what would it be?

Ascension Day is Thursday, May 18th. Here are some verses we can read that will help us remember the day Jesus ascended to heaven, witnessed by the disciples on the Mount of Olives, to rule and reign from on high.

On Friday, May 19th everyone is invited to a sunset cruise with Kingfisher Fleet (call 941-639-0969 to book your reservation – the cost is $37.45 per person). Boarding time is 6:30 pm from the dock at Fisherman’s Village, Punta Gorda.
Before the cuise, meet other VCN people for dinner at 4:30 pm at Harpoon Harry’s at 1200 W Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda just before the cruise. Get all of the info from the VCN Welcome Center on Sunday morning, or call the Church Office.

Jay Sunberg will be our missionary speaker at VCN on Sunday, May 21st at 6 pm. Jay and his wife, Teanna, have been missionaries for more than 20 years on the Eurasia Region. They live in Poland and lead the Field Strategy Team for the Central Europe Field. Jay will have news about ministry for Ukrainian refugees and just how the war is affecting the church. It will definitely be worth our time to gather on a Sunday night to learn about the situation and how to pray and support the church in Europe.

Pentecost Sunday is Sunday, May 28th. Here are some verses to help prepare you for this important day on the church calendar.
